Silver Lake Initiates Feasibility Assessment for a Potential Tokyo Office

Silver Lake Partners (“Silver Lake”), a global private equity firm focused on technology and technology-enabled industries, today announced that it has initiated a feasibility assessment and internal planning discussions regarding the potential establishment of a local office in Tokyo, Japan. This initiative is intended to further advance Silver Lake’s long-term strategy across the Asia-Pacific region, with a particular focus on Japan.

If established, a Tokyo presence would strengthen on-the-ground partnership development and investment evaluation capabilities and enhance coordination across Silver Lake’s global network.

Silver Lake plans to appoint Keiichiro Wakamatsu as Japan Representative to support preparatory work and develop a local operating plan. Mr. Wakamatsu brings more than 30 years of international investment and capital markets experience across global financial and investment institutions.

A Silver Lake Managing Partner said:

“Japan plays a critical role in global technology, advanced manufacturing, and the energy transition. We believe that deepening local relationships and strengthening on-the-ground capabilities are important steps in pursuing long-term, sustainable investment.”

Silver Lake’s current areas of focus in Japan include advanced manufacturing and industrial automation (including robotics and semiconductor equipment), sustainable energy and green technology solutions, healthcare technology and innovations supporting an aging society, and the commercialization of research outcomes and university spin-outs.
